  1. <Chapter 4:  Define Form>
  2.      If you want to increase or decrease the number of lines of text in
  3. the boxes of a chart, or to alter the labeling of these lines in the entry
  4. forms, or to change the default properties of boxes or of individual text
  5. lines, then you will need to use the DEFINE-FORM command in the top menu.
  6. When you invoke this command, a new menu is displayed. Using this menu you
  7. can change the number of lines per box and you can set the default
  8. properties. Also, a special entry form is displayed. The text fields in
  9. this form contain the strings used to label the lines in the entry forms
  10. for the individual boxes.

  12.      For example, the default chart created when ORCHIS is first loaded
  13. has three lines per box, and these lines are labeled "Name", "Title" and
  14. "Comments" respectively. Invoking the DEFINE-FORM command will display the
  15. entry form illustrated in <[FIG03]>.

  17. <Section 4.1:  Add Line>
  18.      Use the ADD-LINE command to place additional text lines in the boxes
  19. of the current chart. When you invoke this command, a new field is added
  20. to the special entry form in the chart window. You are asked to select
  21. which field in this form is to be the new field. In this way, the new line
  22. can be added above, below, or in the middle of the existing text lines.
  23. The new field is initially blank. Select the new field with the cursor or
  24. by using the TAB key if you want to supply a label for that field in the
  25. entry forms for this chart.

  27.      Note that all boxes in a given chart have the same number of text
  28. lines in their entry forms. When you use the ADD-LINE command, you are
  29. adding a new line to every box in the chart. Initially, this line will be
  30. blank. If you want to show fewer lines in some boxes than in others, you
  31. can use the HIDDEN-LINE property, which can be turned on and off for
  32. individual lines independently in the various boxes of the chart.

  34. <Section 4.2:  Remove Line>
  35.      Use the REMOVE-LINE command to delete text lines in the boxes of the
  36. current chart. When you invoke this command, you are prompted to select
  37. the field that you want to delete. Position the cursor in the chosen field
  38. and press the left mouse button or the keyboard ENTER key. The selected
  39. line will be deleted from every box in the chart. Once a line is removed,
  40. the deleted information cannot be recovered; therefore, ORCHIS requires a
  41. verification for each line removed by this command.

  43. <Section 4.3:  Defaults>
  44.      Use the DEFAULTS command to change the default values for the various
  45. properties of boxes and text lines. When you set a property value here, it
  46. will apply everywhere in the chart, except for those boxes in which it is
  47. overridden by an explicitly set property value.

  49.      When you invoke the DEFAULTS command, a property sheet is displayed
  50. containing the default values for all box properties. You can then use the
  51. NEXT-LINE <[3.1]> and FORMER-LINE <[3.2]> commands (or the PGDN and PGUP
  52. keys) to display the default properties for the various text lines. (You
  53. can also bypass the DEFAULTS command and display any of these default
  54. property sheets directly by clicking on the appropriate [P]-button in the
  55. entry form for the DEFINE-FORM menu).

  57.      Default sheets are manipulated in the same way as ordinary property
  58. sheets. For complete information on using property sheets see Chapter
